Which Vic community clubs produced AFL mid-season draftees

Kye Declase (selected with the 15th pick by Melbourne) graduated from Montmorency Junior Football Club and played 20 senior games for Montmorency from 2014 to 2019 booting 34 goals.

For most players at the elite level, their football journey begins at their local community club. Find out which community clubs across Victoria produced the latest batch of AFL-listed players, taken in the recent mid-season draft.

A total of 22 players were handed an opportunity to join AFL lists when their names were called out on Wednesday night, with 12 coming from Victoria.

Ruckman Jacob Edwards, who played his junior club football at Beaumaris in the South Metro Junior Football League and represents Mentone Grammar in school football, was the first overall pick made by North Melbourne. Fellow Victorian Jai Newcombe was selected next by Hawthorn. The Box Hill Hawks VFL product comes from South Gippsland club Poowong, which competes in the Ellinbank & District Football League.

Beaumaris boasted a second player on an AFL list, with seventh pick Max Heath picked up by St Kilda. Heath and Edwards played in the same junior teams during their careers at the Sharks.

Ovens & Murray Football League club Albury Tigers was very well represented with two former players finding AFL homes - Patrick Parnell (pick 4 to Adelaide) and Daniel Turner (pick 24 to Melbourne). Both have been playing for the Murray Bushrangers in the NAB League.
