VICTORIAN INCLUSIVE CLUBS RECOGNISED

07 JUN 2019

AFL Victoria congratulates all clubs who were nominated for AFL Victoria’s ‘How Inclusive is your Club’ competition.

The competition welcomed nominations for clubs who have made changes to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for women.

A total of 39 clubs were nominated this year and are now in the running to win a $1,000 Footymart voucher to help buy football equipment to support even greater participation at their club.

VicHealth research shows that nearly half of women aged 25 and over find sporting clubs intimidating and many women are too afraid to try a new activity because they’re afraid of being judged.

AFL Victoria, in partnership with VicHealth, are working to change that. Their aim is to empower all women to get active and get involved in sport – regardless of their background, age, body shape or ability.

With female participation increasing every year, AFL Victoria is proud to be in partnership with VicHealth to support even more Victorian women and girls to get active.

Congratulations to all nominated clubs and thank you to all of those who nominated their club.

Winners will be announced on 13 June 2019.
