Parade College and Maribyrnong College will face off next week in 2023 Herald Sun Shield Senior Boys Division One Grand Final, after both teams proved far too strong in their Semi-Final victories on Wednesday 2 August at Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham.

The first game of the day saw Parade flex their powerhouse midfield in a convincing performance against Padua College, in which they prevailed 11.12 (78) to 2.3 (15), showing why they’ve been touted for success all year long.

Meanwhile, Maribyrnong College outclassed Ballarat Clarendon College to run out 15.10 (100) to 7.10 (52) winners. Maribyrnong trailed by points at quarter time but got going in the second term and never looked back.

Parade qualified for the Shield earlier this year, after winning the Associated Catholic College (ACC) grand final against St Bede’s, in June. Parade managed to step up and dominate the ground ball on their way to an outstanding victory against Padua, something they’ll look to continue next week in the Grand Final.

Maribyrnong topped Emmanuel College in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) grand final earlier in the 2023 season, booking their tickets to the Herald Sun Shield. Maribyrnong looked white hot in their win against Ballarat Clarendon and go into their first ever Herald Sun Shield boys final.

The teams will be back at Trevor Barker Oval for the decider on Wednesday 9 August, in what promises to be a very competitive match-up between two very talented school football programs.
