2023 Herald Sun Shield Div 1 Grand Finals set
AFL Victoria has confirmed the schedule for 2023 Herald Sun Shield Division One Grand Finals to be played on Wednesday 9 August and Thursday 10 August, with a change made to the original fixture.
With Parade College winning through to both the Intermediate Boys and Senior Boys Division One deciders, both those games will be played on the same day with the Intermediate Boys game brought forward to be played on Wednesday, prior to the Senior Boys final, as part of a triple-header at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham.
In Senior Girls, Caulfield Grammar will be out to make it back-to-back titles when they face Melbourne Girls Grammar in the first game on Wednesday, while Sacred Heart College Geelong will face Carey Grammar for the Intermediate Girls crown on Thursday.
On the boys side, Maribyrnong College goes into its first ever Herald Sun Shield final in the Senior Boys against Parade, which last won a Herald Sun Shield Division One title 25 years ago, in 1998.
In the Intermediate Boys competition, for Year 10 students and below, Parade will be out to atone for a close loss in last year’s Intermediate Boys Division One Grand Final against St Patrick’s College Ballarat when they face Rowville Secondary College, who have progressed from the Play-In Game after winning the Intermediate Boys Division Two flag in 2022. Rowville have toppled Caulfield Grammar and St Patrick’s College Ballarat in recent weeks, on their way to the final.
In its 45th year, the Herald Sun Shield was first played in 1977 and has a rich history of showcasing some of the best school teams and players in the state.
