Goulburn Murray junior footy talent on display

The most promising young football talent from the Goulburn Murray Juniors, Murray Football League and Bendigo Junior Football League competed in the 2023 AFL Goulburn Murray Junior Championships June 18.

Mooroopna Recreation Reserve played host to around 300 talented boys playing for teams representing their leagues from the under 13, 14, 15 and 16 age groups.

The championships present an opportunity for young players to showcase their skills at a higher standard of competition from club football while helping to identify talent capable of progressing to even higher levels in the pathway system, including the Coates Talent League.

AFL players to have come from the AFL Goulburn Murray Junior Championships include Lachlan Ash (Shepp Bears), Jy Simpkin (Mooroopna) , Jordan Butts (Shepp Bears), Clayton Oliver (Echuca / Mooroopna) , Ollie Wines (Echuca) , Tom Brown (Mooroopna), Joshua Rachelle (Shepp Swans), Tom Rockliff (Benalla), David Mundy (Seymour), Will Hayes (Euroa), Kayne Pettifer (Kyabram).
