AFL Victoria has published updated Return to Training and Play Protocols for junior/senior club football and Auskick

Following the Victorian Government's announcement on Wednesday 2 June of extended restrictions on Victorians due to COVID-19, below is a summary of what it means for community sport/football:

Below is an extract from AFL Victoria's latest 'Return to Training and Games Protocols' for junior/senior club football and Auskick, updated on 4 June 2021. Below the extract are the links to the full documents for senior and junior clubs football, as well as Auskick:

This guide has been established to support the return to training and games under the current Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions. Community clubs and teams have an obligation to strictly adhere to these protocols. The key principle for games and training must be ‘Get in, Participate, Get out’.

METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE JUNIOR (PEOPLE AGED 18 YEARS OR UNDER) 

In line with the current Victorian State Government advice, training and games cannot occur in metropolitan Melbourne for people aged 18 years or under.

METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE SENIOR (PEOPLE AGED 19 YEARS OR OVER)

In line with the current Victorian State Government advice, training and games cannot occur in metropolitan Melbourne for people aged 19 years or over.

REGIONAL VICTORIA JUNIOR (PEOPLE AGED 18 YEARS OR UNDER) 

Training and games (contact and non-contact) can resume for people aged 18 years or under, provided: 

  1. All participants in a group are aged 18 years or under 
  2. It is conducted outdoors 
  3. Is conducted in Regional Victoria 
  4. No more than the minimum number of participants required to conduct the training or game participate in the activity (e.g. players, necessary coaches, umpires and those required for supervision of children or to support people with a disability) 
  5. It does not involve a participant who ordinarily resides in a Metropolitan Melbourne 
  6. Spectators are only permitted for the purposes of supervising children or dependents and should not gather in groups of more than 10 
  7. The use of the indoor facilities, other toilet facilities, is not permitted 
  8. Club rooms, change rooms *toilet permissible and indoor sitting areas remain closed 
  9. Get in and Get out approach to playing

REGIONAL VICTORIA SENIORS (PEOPLE AGED 19 YEARS OR OVER) 

Participants aged 19 years or over may only participate in training provided: 

  1. It is conducted outdoors 
  2. It is conducted in the Regional Victoria 
  3. It does not involve a participant who ordinarily resides in Metropolitan Melbourne 
  4. No more than the minimum number of participants required to conduct the training session participate in the activity 
  5. No spectators are permitted. 
  6. All members of the public participating in the training are from a single sports team. 
  7. The use of the indoor facilities, other than toilet facilities, is not permitted 
  8. Club rooms, change rooms *toilet permissible and indoor sitting areas remain closed 
  9. Get in and Get out approach to training.
