AFL Victoria and the Victorian Football Integration Development Association (FIDA) are excited to work together with several established FIDA clubs to deliver a series of free 2-week Junior FIDA programs to participants aged 10-17 and living with an intellectual disability.

The modified programs will enable participants of all abilities the opportunity to develop their skills in supportive club environments and will help to provide a pathway for participants to move from participating in Auskick to playing in the FIDA competition.

The FIDA Junior Program is an introductory program developing skills that will enable the participants to have a career in FIDA football and involves established FIDA clubs conducting skill sessions at various locations throughout the state. The sessions are conducted in a safe, inclusive and fun environment and include non-contact football activities and modified activities to cater for all abilities. The activities are designed to help participants develop confidence, co-operation and friendship and will enable them to participate safely and develop a love of the game.

FIDA General Manager, Tamara Startin spoke about what the programs have to offer.

"The FIDA Junior Program aims to give the participants skills, confidence, and a pathway into FIDA football, and a chance to play just like their favourite AFL and AFLW players."

The Junior FIDA Programs are available at a number of locations throughout Victoria:

  • Eltham
  • Ferntree Gully
  • Fountain Gate
  • Geelong
  • GV Stars (Goulburn Valley)
  • Kyneton
  • Mazenod
  • St Albans
