ACCESS ALL ABILITIES AUSKICK

The NAB AFL Auskick program makes learning to play AFL fun, safe and easy for boys and girls, aged 5 -12. Through weekly coaching sessions they will learn the skills of the game in an exciting, social and safe environment. The NAB AFL Auskick program has centres that operate all over Victoria.

NAB AFL Auskick prides itself on providing an inclusive and safe environment for everyone to participate, however there are select centres across Victoria who have received additional training in supporting children with disability in an Auskick setting.

Currently there are two kinds of AAA NAB AFL Auskick centres, Disability Specific and Side by Side. Disability Specific centres are designed to cater for children with a specific disability. They have been created through a community need and are designed with the needs of the particular disability in mind.

Side by Side NAB AFL Auskick centres are the most common type of AAA centre. AAA centres are designed to integrate into an existing NAB AFL Auskick centre by simply adding another group to the existing structure. This group is supported by coaches who have experience working with people with disability.

The key to the Side by Side centres is that the children are free to move from the AAA group into their age group whenever they feel comfortable, should they feel the need to move back into the AAA group they are able to do.

What training do the NAB AFL Auskick coaches have?

AFL Victoria has recognised the unique nature of AAA NAB AFL Auskick and as such provides disability awareness training to all staff involved in supporting the AAA NAB AFL Auskick centre.

Staff involved are there to not only support the children but also to upskill the parents in the hope that one-day parents would also like to support the NAB AFL Auskick centre.
