AFL Victoria Best Community Football Facilities Award



The AFL Victoria Best Community Football Facilities Award is announced annually to recognise best practice in community football facility development across the state, along with the people, clubs and other stakeholders driving the best projects in Victoria. The winner of the AFL Victoria Best Community Football Facilities Award will be announced at the end of each calendar year, and put forward as the Victorian nomination for the national AFL Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Award.


In the last two years, a Victorian project has been awarded the top honur of the national award, with Mildura Sporting Precinct the joint Ken Gannon Community Football Facility Award winner in 2023, and Reid Oval in Warrnambool taking out the top honur in 2022.

2023 Winner – Mildura Sporting Precinct, VIC


The $10.8 million Mildura Sporting Precinct was honoured as a joint national winner of the AFL's annual Ken Gannon Community Football Facility Awards for 2023.

2022 Winner - Reid Oval, Warrnambool, VIC
The redeveloped Reid Oval in the regional Victorian town of Warrnambool took out the top national honour in the Australian Football League’s annual Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Awards in 2022. 


The $10.6 million project, completed in 2022, is a shining example of state government and local council coming together with sporting stakeholders to deliver a wonderful outcome for the community.

• WA (Joint National Winner): Baldivis Sports Complex Development - $2,123,000

• VIC (Joint National Winner): Mildura Sporting Precinct Development - $10,877,596

• NSW: Artie Smith Oval Redevelopment - $20,369,800

• QLD: Brighton Homes Arena Development - $75,000,000

• SA: Unley Oval Redevelopment - $5,200,000

• TAS: Blue Gum Park Redevelopment - $500,317
