Community football honours ANZAC heroes

Thousands of local footy fans will have the opportunity pay tribute to our courageous service people in a host of ANZAC Day matches played in every corner of the state.

ANZAC Day is a special day on the Australian calendar.

It is a day when we remember and pay tribute to all those men and women who served their country so selflessly and bravely in various conflicts over the years.

And, it is a day we salute those fallen heroes who sacrificed their life so we can enjoy the lifestyle we do today.

With ANZAC Day falling on a Tuesday this season, a host of community football leagues will hold special commemorative services that salute our courageous service people, past and present this weekend from April 22-23.

In addition, 19 regional and metropolitan matches will join the rest of nation in remembering our ANZAC heroes with games scheduled to be played on Tuesday April 25.

Check your community football league’s website for details on local football commemorative services commencing this weekend.
